Ignas: Innovation in Token Economics Returns to the Crypto Industry
DeFi researcher Ignas posted on platform X, stating that the crypto industry is reattempting new token mechanisms, despite previous concerns about stagnation in token economics innovation. After experiencing low liquidity and high FDV token issuance, several projects are showcasing innovative features. Ignas cites examples such as ZCAT, which provides ZEC rewards to holders through a 3% transfer tax; BUN/Mosh, which allows funding supporters to share transaction fees but prevents them from withdrawing LP; STONK, which uses fee income for market cap-weighted buybacks and destruction of the top 15 compliant tokens; VVV/DIEM, which allows staking VVV to mint DIEM, and then staking DIEM to obtain daily AI quotas; and ORBIO, which converts transaction fees into AI quotas for stakers. BP requires staking for at least one year to qualify for future IPO equity conversion and determines token supply unlocks based on project growth milestones. Ignas believes that the commonality among these projects is that they give tokens actual value, rather than merely serving as financing tools, but he points out that many mechanisms still rely on speculators for continuous trading, with speculation remaining dominant in the crypto market.
