Russian Stablecoin A7A5 Sees Sharp Decline in Trading Activity Following Drone Attacks
Trading activity for the Russian ruble-pegged stablecoin A7A5 has sharply declined following the drone attacks in Ukraine. A7A5 was used as a payment method to circumvent Western sanctions, but service disruptions occurred due to damage to data centers. According to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic, trading of A7A5 dropped from 600 transactions per day to just dozens immediately after the drone attacks on the 7th and 8th. Currently, there are approximately 17,600 wallets holding A7A5 on the Ethereum network, but only 18 transactions have occurred in the last 24 hours. On the Tron network, while the number of wallets exceeds 30,700, only 14 transactions were recorded. Daily trading volume has decreased to between $0 and $1,500, with a market capitalization maintained at around $455 million to $482 million. The A7A5 operating team announced that some services might be suspended immediately after the attacks, citing technical issues as the cause of the disruptions. While service resumption is expected, users are facing difficulties in payment processing and receipt of promissory notes. A7A5 was already experiencing reduced trading activity due to Western sanctions, with an average daily trading amount of $24.3 million in June, a 96% decrease from its peak of $1.05 billion in July 2025.
