Zelensky Comments on Fedorov's Resignation and Syrsky's Role
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the possibility of Mykhailo Fedorov returning to his position, without giving a direct answer. He emphasized that during wartime, the effective functioning of the entire system is important, rather than individual officials, calling for unity between the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense. Zelensky noted that personnel decisions should ensure the efficiency of the system's work. He respects Fedorov and former Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, but stressed that the successes of military operations are the result of the joint efforts of various services, not the merit of one person. The president did not confirm the possibility of Fedorov's reappointment, stating that internal disputes should not affect important military decisions. Zelensky also outlined key tasks for the state, including a new approach to mobilization and the development of missile defense systems. He highly praised Fedorov's achievements in drone technology but emphasized that drones cannot replace soldiers on the front lines. It is worth noting that on July 14, the Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and the entire Cabinet. On July 21, Zelensky dismissed Syrsky from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, likely due to protests in major cities.
