EIP-8025 Execution Proof Implements Real-Time Block Proof on Sepolia Testnet

Ethereum Foundation research engineer Tau Lepton has run EIP-8025 execution proof on the Sepolia testnet, allocating 8 RTX 5090 graphics cards each to the ethrex and reth client programs using OpenVM. The proof for a single block takes about 6 to 7 seconds, shorter than Ethereum's 12-second block interval, allowing the prover to complete the proof before the next block is generated. Over 36,000 proofs have been generated so far, and different provers and client programs will be tested in rotation over the next few days to weeks. Execution proof allows validators to confirm blocks by verifying zero-knowledge proofs instead of re-executing transactions. Tau Lepton cautions that this feature is still experimental, and validators should not rely on execution proof for fork selection or proof voting; they still need to run execution clients.
