Non-Profit Organization Issues Ad Warning About Stock Tokenization Risks
On October 26, The Wall Street Journal published a full-page advertisement titled "YOUR STOCK. THEIR TOKENS. YOUR PROBLEM." to alert the public about the risks of stock tokenization. The ad was funded by the American conservative non-profit organization Common Sense Leadership Fund, warning that the crypto industry will tokenize company shares in unregulated venues. It listed eight major risks, including pricing discrepancies, ownership ambiguities, impaired capital raising, cyber theft, market manipulation, AML loopholes, lack of investor protection, and potential legal liabilities. Previously, 22 companies, including Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, McDonald's, and Alphabet, had expressed opposition, outlining the relevant rules of the collaboration between OKX and ICE, but did not specify the reasons for their opposition.
